The experiments are the victims of this whole operations.
Experiments are usually the males and females ranging from 9-30 who are to be injected with Animal DNA. It reacts to the age groups different and each experiment, even if same race, gender and age are injected with the same DNA, it doesn't mean the changes will be identical or even similar.
Children below 8 years of age
Children below the age of nine don't tend to survive the changing process, if they do, they're bodies either start to slowly shut down or they die from dangerous disfigurement that their body simply cannot adapt to. They are simply far to young and fragile to withstand the process unless born naturally.
Children 8-14
These are considered the younger of the group, the children, the changes for them tend to be more painful as their bodies are still developing but at this age they develop rather well and go through their teenage changes with a bit more ease with their changes already set, with the longer time they get with their new limbs or abilities, they tend to accept them more. However there is sometimes the odd disfigurement or body failure although this is now rare. However when injected the subject is more than likely to pass out from pain.
15-19
These are the teenage years, these are the years when bodies seem more responsive to the DNA. Depending on the body structure and healthy of the teenager, the process could be painless or agony. It really depends, some usually pass out part way making the rest painless, some able to stay awake throughout it. Mostly the older more developed bodies can cope against the changes without passing out or their bodies going into shock.
20-30
This is the age limit that any official experiment injection will be set at. No scheduled experiment will go any older than this.
men and women in this stage of their lives will have most difficulty adapting to their animals parts, however with their bodies being stronger they are more likely to survive and stay conscious throughout the injection depending on physical and mental health. Any sort of body failure at this age is unlikely although the subject may get severe cases of arthritis (When reaching their 40-50s) rendering them useless to the USASI's needs. But this also does not happen to all experiments. And depending on the experiments healthy, it may not happen at all as long as the person is kept fit.
Some more info: The chosen victims are very rarely random, it is only if a person feels the need and is given permission by a higher colleague to pull a random person off the street for injection. This is usually for watching behavioral changes after surveying them in the cage human before injecting them.
However, the majority of experiments have been carefully studied in extreme detail to make a more successful assessment, to see their adaptation from the real world into the new world of being part animal with all new instincts. They would watch but never intervene in the personal lives until they felt it was time to bring them in and inject them. Then the experiments would be either released, caged for testing until released on a set date or until they escape.
More information may be added if seen fit
