Name: Deepak Prem Rahna
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Status: Alpha Unit
DNA: Tent-making bat, Taipan snake (snake dragon)
Experiment number: AU #28
Height: 5 foot 10
Appearance: Deepak is a rather beautiful sort-of a person. His father's Indian roots have given him quite an eastern appeal, with darker skin, dark hair and rather sumptuous brown eyes, which is unusual, since those of his unidentical twin sister are blue. He is a rather soft-faced man rather than having the appearance of someone who would quite like to kick your head in. He's grown up in rather tough circumstances, and has the marks to prove it. There is a substantial mark above his right eye and a tattoo of his sister's name in hindi along the inside of his right forearm, a tribal snake on his back, a row of three fleur de lys along his foot, and a tribal band around his arm and shoulder.
Build: He's reasonably sturdy, though he's not built like a brick shithouse. You wouldn't catch him playing rugby or any other contact sport, but he's sturdy enough to have muscle, and to know what to do with it.
Personality: Deep is incredibly defensive, very overly protective and rather serious. He doesn't tend to relax as easily as most people, though this is probably understandible as he and his sister Mai didn't have the easiest of upbringings. He is almost painfully loyal, incredibly tough-skinned and sometimes rather difficult to get to know. Break the surface you find
History/Past: Mumbai can be two different cities. There's the overworld and there's the slums. Luckily for Deepak, he was born to an Indian father and an American mother in a two-up two-down whitewashed house in the suburbs.
He was raised well, for the first five years, always taught to be strong and courageous and to look after his sister, and from a very young age he became incredibly protective of Amaya. When all the shit in her life would begin tumbling down, he knew he'd be there. He just knew it, even when he was small.
The problem was his life was never going to run as it should have. His parents separated, and the children remained in Mumbai with their father while their mother went back to America. Deepak was ten, and this was when he started to realise that he could, effectively look after himself. He would regularly vanish from under the noses of his sister and father to escape into the city centre, to steal and to work himself into a reasonably bad reputation. Things got worse and worse, and when he was twelve he left home. He didn't say anything or do anything, just walked out and abandoned his sister, his greatest mistake.
Deepak spent a good few months living in a cheap children's hostel, working on a shoe stall in his spare time to earn a bit of money, occasionally sneaking home to steal cash and food from his father or sister. He fell in with the wrong crowd, often heading into the deeper, darker dens to hang out with the gangsters and bad men of Mumbai. He started just running small errands, though ended up in deep debt, and when he was fifteen he started fighting. And he was good. He was worth money. He was dragged into the boxing ring, all but kicking and screaming against his will. He would be commanded to lose when they wanted to win big, and ended up broken and blooded.
It was three weeks before his sixteenth birthday he heard what had happened to his sister, and it made him sick. He had to get out of the shit he had dug himself into, he had to redeem himself. He kicked and screamed and fought to get away, but the shady bosses that kept him in the ring fighting always pulled him down. He would sneak out of the house in the night and cross the city to see his sister. He would take her money and whatever he could to try and apologise for being a rubbish brother, but it wouldn't heal what had happened. He'd have to do something much greater. He got hold of a gun. He threatened his way out of the fighting circle, but then for his and for Amaya's own safety, they had to get out of Mumbai.
Other: Has a twin sister, Amaya. Is very protective of her and partly blames himself for her horrific past, thinking he should have taken better care of her.
Sexual Orientation: Straight.
