Here are some rules for those who want to critique other’s or receive critique for their artwork or graphics.
Rules for submitting Artwork/Graphics:[/b]
1. Do not submit something that isn’t your own work.
If the artwork isn’t your own, then please do not submit it or claim it as your own. This is a place for you to be told how you need to improve, not how someone else needs to.
2. Don’t take your critique personally.
The critique being given is only a basis that you can use for improvement. It isn’t about whether or not you are good at drawing, writing, etc. This is a place where others tell you what you can improve on. If you feel that you might take some comments personally, either specify for a soft critique or don’t submit your work.
3. Specify what sort of critique you would like.
Say, in your first post, whether you want to have harsh critique or soft so that the critiques know what you are looking for. Also, if you want someone to perhaps correct some of your work, just ask in your first post. If you want someone to specifically critique your work, then please PM this person or persons.
Rules for give critique:[/b]
1. Don’t be insulting.
Insulting someone’s work isn’t helpful. Give constructive criticism so that the other person knows how to improve their work.
2. Take into consideration the level of criticism that has been asked for.
If someone asks for soft critique, don’t be harsh. They might not want someone to criticise their work strongly so make sure that you respect their wishes.
3. Give constructive criticism.
Don’t just say: ‘Aww, that’s so cute’. It doesn’t help the artist to improve, which is the main reason why their artwork is submitted in this section. Be helpful in your critique so that the artist can work on this aspect of their work. This doesn’t mean, though, that you aren’t allowed to compliment the work. By all means, do so, but make sure that you also give ways of improvement or aspects that could be changed.
These are the rules. More may be added later on but please follow these if you are giving or want to receive critique.
