CHAPTER 1: Pain
" Come on Max, give it back ," A girl screamed, a male who seemed to be 13 standing over her. In the boys hands was a small book, writing covering the front, a small lock on the side.
" What’s the magic word ?" The male asked sarcastically the girl eventually giving in and muttering please, the boy smiling slightly as he dropped the book.
" Max! Olivia! Get down here!" A female voice called from downstairs, an air of sadness seeming to surround it. The pair looked at each other, as if to ask what did you do before running down the stairs.
" Its happened ," Was the only words the woman muttered as the pair entered the living room, only to be silenced by the sound of a growl and smashing glass. The girl screamed, the woman gathered the girl into her arms, the boy reaching for the lamp at his side.
That was me, the kid reaching for the lamp as the beasts entered. I want to put a stretch on was. That was two years ago, a few days after my sisters birthday, the book I had a hold of was her diary. Simple yet effective. That was my old name to these guys, these bastards that are keeping me looked up in here. To them, I’m just number 237.
" Come on 237 ," See what I mean? My ears twitched slightly as I stood up, the figure in a white coat instantly pulling out his gun, aiming it at my back as I began to walk down the corridor. Most people called it the death walk, I called it fun. See how many scientists you could infuriate before being sedated.
Now where was I? Oh yeah, number 237. The bastards I was speaking about was these white coats, the ones that gave me that one injection that led to all this. All the pain. All the suffering. All the fun really. You see, I’m an experiment, a misfit, something that shouldn’t be but is.
" Keep going, freak" Oh yeah, forgot that one. A freak. Door opens, I step in, door closes. " Now are we going to do this easy, or am I going to need to use the gun?" The scientist asked as I mouthed it. Same thing every single time. I shrugged slowly before swinging a punch at the scientist in front of me, a smirk on my face. Ah, sweet revenge. I turned, round hose kicking the scientist to my left, hearing a crack. An astonished cry broke a pair of familiar lips.
The head scientist had just come in. Black mail time. I turned and lunged, a loud screeching coming from behind me as my claws dug into the clear floor. A shot echoed, the familiar sensation of the dart hitting my shoulder. So close.
" God, will he ever learn?" one of them muttered as I hit the floor. One elephant tranq. Was that it recently? A growl escaped my throat, a last desperate swipe at the scientist before I normally blacked out, knowing when I woke up Id be in the exact same cage, with the exact same faces looking at me. I tried to stand up. YES! The tranqs weren’t working so well now. I was on my feet, an orchestra of gasps seeming to flood around me. I lunged forward before the gasps turned to laughs. It hadn’t been luck they hadn’t worked. It was a plan. One came behind me, shoving me towards another, in turn another, like one of those circles of bully’s at school.
" How do you like it?" Damien, or the head scientist, asked me, my head spinning as one of them punched me in the stomach, most likely Damien. Another started to kick as I hit the floor, hearing a slight crack, pain flaring up as one of my ribs broke. God, I was going to be feeling this tomorrow. Anger seemed to burn behind my eyes but I couldn’t do anything, the pain keeping me down as another one began to kick as well. Soon I just blacked out, my body refusing to move.
