s i n obstacles are like wild animals. they are cowards but they will bluff you if they can. if they see you are afraid of them... they are liable to spring upon you; but if you look them squarely in the eye, they will slink out of sight.

She could tell she had startled him. It was a sudden feeling that radiated off him that just made her be able to almost sense the very essence of his feeling in the air. As soon as his head moved sharply she flinched and moved a good few meters away, her body repulsed like before and leaning away. That had to be one of Sin’s best reactions. Normally someone would have gotten hurt with that move. As he chuckled through she slowly eased up and was standing straight now. She didn’t understand him. Seeing this side of him reassured Sinner that he had his sides. Which silently comforted her in his normality and being able to predicted him better.
As he grinned at her she was confused. It was almost like he was enjoying himself. When he apologies she was even in more awe. His tone was soft, almost like the feeling of velvet to her ears. Which was odd. Normally Sinner didn’t focus on the sound of someone’s voice. But considering how much of a mystery he was to her she was trying to get every signal detail she could out of him. As he stated she had freedom of where she could be she gave a thankful sigh. She was not selfless enough to put so much trust in him over her body.
“ I see.”
She could feel the pavement already starting to give way to the sandy beaches that were fast approaching. She didn’t move as he started walking, keeping still as stone, only her eyes following his movements like a hawk. She was wary of him again. Most her trust had broken down really. The fast movement had all so startled her and now as making her nervous of him. But his reassuring smile did help ease her nerves some. Once he was rather far in front of her she trailed along. A simple shadow ghosting it’s way across the sun lit beach.

Zack let out a small sigh as he realised the small, sharp movement of him turning around had made Sinner leap back so far. It was a shame, he had though he was getting somewhere with her. But hey, you can't expect someone to trust you within an hour of meeting them can you? He smiled softly at her, he meant what he said, he was fine with her being at whatever distance from him that made her comfortable. “Haven’t really met many people yet,” he continued, directing his voice over his shoulder where Sinner was vaguely trailing after him. “I met Will once, didn’t really say much but I gather he’s quite a big part of the whole thing. And then there’s Skyler,” he chuckled at the thought of Skyler. Yeah, he hadn’t appreciated the joke he had made last time they had met but the kid was alright in Zack’s eyes.
The young male stuffed his hands into his pocket, relaxing slightly, deciding not to worry so much about Sinner, she’d do what she wanted to and if that meant running away, then she had every right to do so. His head raised as the wonderful scent of hotdogs wafted over the salts smell of the sea. He smirked as he saw the van, it was a small white van with one man behind the counter. A young couple had just purchased their food and were walking away as Zack approached. “Sam,” he greeted the man behind the cart with a small nod of his head. “Ah, hey Zack, usual I take it?” the man replied as he moved into the back of the van. “You know it,” Zack smirked as he rested his elbow against the side of the van and looked up for Sinner, the sound of cooking sausages rolling from inside the van. “What would you like?” he asked Sinner, reaching into his back pocket, taking out his wallet and smiling lightly at the ebony haired girl.

Jo frowned as the door was opened, laying on about the fifth step down from the basement door, she lifted her head once Will had shut the door, sniffing the air at the scent coming off of the letter. She slowly shifted human and took the envelope carefully in her fingers, turning it over in her hand. She didn't recognise the scent, she hadn't seen Kira in so long, she thought it was Kira's scent but really that was just because she knew that it was from Kira. She had heard Indi say it was from him. Her disk like ears had been pinned on the boy ever since she had realised he was there and as the door had been opened it wasn't too hard to hear everything he said, although she clearly didn't see the looks he had given Will.
So, what was this? Hmm? Some big explanation as to why he left? An apology? A love letter? A big ‘screw you, I’ve found a better life’? Honestly, Jo didn’t even know if she wanted to know. What good would it really do? So yeah, he had a good reason for leaving, that wasn’t going to make things easier and what if he had a crap reason for leaving? That would just make things hurt more. He could say he was sorry until the moon turned pink but that wasn’t going to make her forgive him. She hardly needed a love letter from him and if it was a screw you then she really didn’t want to read it.
She frowned and shook her head slowly. She realised how very fed up she was. How fed up she was of blaming herself for attacking her father, how it hurt to know that Kira wasn’t here, that he had left. That her father wasn’t here anymore. Living in this basement, only going up for food and a bit of fresh air. It was pointless. It wasn’t going to erase what had happened.
She turned the envelope once more in her hands, before tossing it neatly onto her makeshift bed. Well, an old, broken mattress with a hole covered blanket thrown over it. “You left,” she said under her breath. “Nothing you can say will change that.” She turned her head away from the note and made her way up the stairs of the basement, pushing the door open and walking silently into the main room. Not like she had done before. This time she held herself with so much more confidence. She was fed up of the way her life was turning and so she was going to make it change. She flashed a smile at Will. “Hey,” she said softly. It wasn’t hard to notice something had changed big time about Jo, her smile couldn’t be called 100% genuine but there was a small spark in her emerald green eyes that hadn’t been seen since she had arrived back in L.A. Her eyes ran over the two girls that Will held against him and the smile widened ever so slightly. This was how she wanted to see her friend, with his daughters.

Will continued to happily dote away on the two as Jay went off to find Duncan, wherever he had disappeared to while Will had left him in the care of the others, he wasn’t worried, he knew that Duncan wouldn’t have gotten out or something like that, he’d made sure the dragon had been safely shunted from the door so he was left in peace to focus completely on his two daughters, smiling and tenderly caring for them with the affection only a truly loving father could have as he stroked Evelyn’s soft hair and now the half human for of Dream. “My two beautiful little girls” he smiled softly, scooping both into his arms so they were cradled lightly against him, his shirt remained up in Rook’s room, where Evie had previously worn it after her bath and he hadn’t gotten around to getting another or retrieving it. He nuzzled the girl’s head ever so lightly, their scents familiar and calming before the sound of a door and paw steps pricked his ears and the boy raised his head, smiling happily to see the familiar form of Jo. “Looky here, Auntie Jo’s come for a visit” he said teasingly, his eyes glistening sparking lightly, seemingly surprised yet thrilled to see Jo looking better than she had in a while. Had something happened he didn’t know about? Had she read the letter or hadn’t she seen it? Deep down, Will had known he could only aid Jo’s recovery some more, but Jo, Jo was the only one who could fix it, heal, forgive and forget and so on. And Will could see improvement, it was hard no to with the usually reclusive female who was now approaching him of free will while caring for his two charges. “you’re looking well” he said happily.

Bored. Bored, bored, bored. Tail flicking somewhat aggressively behind her, Sky made her way across the sandy shores of the beach and onto the dark concrete of the alleyways. Lee put her in a bored mood. He was dull and never wanted to play, only caught up on a woman he would never be able to have, at least, not fully. I mean, hey, can you see Cassandra walking down the isle to Lee? Sky couldn't stop herself laughing out loud at the idea. What to do, what to do? Well, she had $20s more then she had earlier, so that was always a plus. She turned a corner and suddenly was hit with the familiar smell of the restaurant. It was hard to miss, such a mixture of animal scents all confined in one building. It was either the restaurant or someone had started up a zoo. Well, either way she'd be able to find some sort of fun, surely?
She followed the scent and was soon standing outside the restaurant. Wasn't the first time she had been here but she didn't want to make a habit out of it. So far she was on good terms with most of the experiments and was happy to keep it that way. She spied the ladder that lead up to the roof garden and smirked, quickly making her way up the ladder and onto the roof. She weaved in and out of the some what failed attempt of a garden and came across and open window. Honestly just a random window but she did vaguely recognise the scent inside. She poked her head through the window. "Anyone at home?" she called before she even had time to register who was inside, more fun that way. Her sky blue eyes fell on the red head curled up on her bed and smirked.

Jo smiled lightly at Will, she loved seeing him with his kids, or at least, his daughters, not so fond of him while he was with Duncan, but what were you gunna do? The boy was a terror. Her ears fell slightly as he said 'Auntie Jo', clearly the nickname threw her but she smiled anyway, coming up to perch on the edge of the booth, out of arm's reach from either of the kids but near enough. She nodded at Will’s comment. “Yeah, I’m feeling…” she paused, was going to say good but that didn’t quite fit how she was actually feeling. “Alright,” she finished with a satisfied nod, alright was a huge improvement from not coping. “How about you?” she asked as she leant back against the seat, emerald green eyes resting on the silver haired male and his two daughters.

Meredith* This is my face. Covered in freckles With the occasional spot and some veins. [/sub] ~+~ She called, frowning slightly. What kind of an establishment was this? A high tech laboratory was not the impression she had got. There was nothing even to indicate the actual function of the building. But maybe that was the whole point. Stay anonymous. How clever. She smiled slightly, trying to see around the door again, scuffing her foot along the floor. She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. She had cleaned up quite nicely for the first day, dressed in black trousers and a white shirt, her hair tied in a smart ponytail instead of it's usual bedraggled copper state. She cleared her throat. Maybe the best thing to do would be to just wait. She took a step back, in case someone came out and picked up on her being nosy. She folded her arms behind her back, trying to look tidy, and pulled a personable smile onto her face. So far, Meredith Jones' first day was nothing like she had expected.[/ul][/sub] Let's talk about spaceships...

Will, although noticing the auntie comment didn’t bode completely well didn’t seem to mind at all, it was only a small thing, a playful pet name and it may help Jo become more acquainted with his daughters anyway. He bounced the oldest, Evie, on his lap softly to keep her amused and happy while cradling Dream in his free arm, content and happy now that Duncan wasn’t around being a pain in the ass. “I’m alive” he responded to her question, a small grin of amusement crossing his lips as he said it. As if to say, ‘Alive’s good enough, isn’t it?’ but it was all in good humour, having made his attempt to banish the depressing thoughts form his head and enjoy the quality time with his two daughters whom he seemed very reluctant to hand over, holding them close and lovingly yet in a gentle manner. “Indi’s back” although, he guessed she’d already figured that out. “Haven’t seen you in a while”.

Rook* Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore ~+~ She said quietly, getting to her feet and brushing her t-shirt again, the fabric still spattered with the remnants of Evie's soapy bath. "Did you just come in through my window?" She asked quietly, raising an eyebrow in passive admiration. It was rare that you found the inquisitive type around now. Usually people tried to stay out of trouble, and that was difficult enough. Looking for trouble took guts, and it had always been something Rook admired. Other than that, she recognised the girl. "You're Sky, right? I've met you before?" She said, tilting her head to one side as she thought to herself. Her mind was starting to malfunction. Memory problems, her dad had said, she would get used to. A side-effect of her surgery. No matter.[/ul][/sub] And so smile, child...

Clipboard in hand and wonderfully oblivious to the fact that Sky had spilled all about the kiss. Cassandra Fox made her way down the hall of the lab, the familiar click click click of her high heels echoing around the room with each step. Shoulder length black hair bounced as she walked at a brisk pace, her eyes buried in the contence of the clipboard. She pushed open the door to the main hall without looking up, very nearly crashing into a red haired woman the other side of the door. But Cassandra came to a sudden halt right before she collided with the woman. "Who the hell are you?" she snapped, clearly not in a good mood and not about to have a good first impression of Meredith.

Jo glanced at where Indi's scent hung in the air, the boy just behind the main doors leading to the restaurant. She nodded. "Yeah, I heard," she said, almost dryly, before turning her attention back to Will, Evie and Dream. "Sorry about not being around," she said, sighing, emerald green eyes closing softly for a moment. "It's been a bit of an adjustment that I guess I didn't want to make. It's easier in the allies, simpler." Her eyes snapped open and a smile spread on her face as her eyes fell on Evie, she looked so much like her father, it was so sweet to see the two together. "But it's better here," she said, voice determined. “Harder, but better.”

Meredith* This is my face. Covered in freckles With the occasional spot and some veins. [/sub] ~+~ She hesitated, digging through the files in her shoulder bag, pulling out her confirmation of employment, her passport as proof of identification and her new USASI work permit. "I'm Meredith... Meredith Jones, I'm starting as a new special officer..." She said, chewing her lip slightly. "I was headhunted, you see... from Cardiff." She added, smiling slightly, hoping the rather curt woman would be a bit less in-your-face now she knew that Meredith was supposed to be here. "This is the United States Animal Studies Institute... right?" She asked, glancing around her once more. If she'd walked into the wrong place that would be just perfect. Way to go, lost in a strange city in a foreign country on the wrong continent... she was starting to regret leaving home. Then she thought of what she would have to face returning to the city of Cardiff, and took back her decision. Bad, bad idea. She coughed, covering her face and averting her eyes. The scientist was older than her, and clearly of a much higher authority than she would have as a special officer. Special officers, they had told her, were primarily responsible for experiment recall. Strange occupation, she thought, but then again some jobs did have a certain peculiarity about them. Maybe this was just one of them.[/ul][/sub] Let's talk about spaceships...

Sky smirked as she watched Rook slowly wake up and glanced over her shoulder at the open window. “Yup,” she replied, tail swaying happily behind her, glad that she didn’t just have her head snapped of for doing so, not that it would phase her it that happened but it was always easier when it didn’t. She nodded. “Yeah, and you’re Rook?” she checked, although knowing it was. “What happened to the bundle of fluff you had with you last time?” she asked as she leant her back against the wall, arms folded and looking quiet at home in Rook’s room, not caring in the least if she was imposing. Her eyes ran over the wet shirt that Rook was wearing and smirked, ears perking forward slightly.

Cassandra raised her eyebrows as the woman before her suddenly reached into her bag and produced a bunch of papers. "Yeah, great, more paper work," she said with a roll of her eyes, completely ignoring the papers flashed at her. “Yeah, you got the wrong person girly, you want to go piss off personnel with that lot,” she added, moving around the woman and heading towards the main desk. She glanced over her shoulder and nodded. “Yeah, this is it, word of advice? Take those papers, shove them in a shredder and run like hell from this place.” A cruel smile spread over her lips as she neatly hopped over the desk, her brown leather jacket pulling back as she did so to reveal her gun holster, before she landed with a thud the other side of the desk. She crouched down and began rifling around in the shelves behind it. Not that interest in any new girls who made it through the doors, it wasn't her job to babysit.

"You know Will I take it? Everyone does." She said, suddenly coughing and giving an exaggerated blink. Sore throat. Came from talking in her sleep. "What about that... mental cat? Does he belong to you or..?" She queried, remembering the strange thing that had so irritated Evie when she was up on the roof garden. [/ul][/sub] And so smile, child...

"Yeah, I know Will," she said, she spent one night with him at the fair and couldn't recall seeing him once after that. She had been too tied up in work to care about it anyway. She raised her eyebrows at Rook's cough. "You alright?" she asked lightly. Sky frowned a moment before recalling the small black cat that had also been up on the roof garden. She shook her head lightly. "Metal is right and no, he's not mine. Never seen him before then, haven't seen him since then either," she admitted lightly, shrugging.
Her eyes wondered over Rook’s form, Sky was always a big fan of that ‘just woke up’ look and her eyes wondered shamelessly over Rook’s wet top, a small smirk twitching at her lip’s as she did so. “So, you and Will long over?” she asked curiously. One of the main points of her information gathering was finding out who was availably and who wasn’t.

She smiled slightly, casting a glance at the door. "Really does look like her dad though... Evie that is..." She said, a rather distant look on her face. She snapped back to reality, looked at Sky and blinked. "Sorry." she said, running her hand through her hair, pushing her fringe out of the way. "No, i'm fine. Talk in my sleep, it's never good." She said, laughing. Only this time there was a warmth to her laugh.[/ul][/sub] And so smile, child...

Dreamcaster looked around and then to Jo listening and just lightly hurring a tune. Happily she just hurred liking the sound she was making. She watched things around her her brown and red streaked hair tossed about lightly as she bobbed her head about.

Lee ran his hand through his hair as he sighed, picking up a light jog, the usual flutter of his neat, freshly pressed white coat did not follow him this time, no, the Irishman was looking much smarter than he usually did (Which was definitely saying something) Freshly shined black shoes adorned his feet, laces neatly tied, he wore a pair of smart black pants and a black suit jacket, a crisp white shirt beneath it. It was formal, not suffocating but professional, yes, that was it. It let off a professional air to say the least; To say the most, he looked goddamn good in said suit (-hides- x3) it was Lee’s job, as head of his department he had to come and meet this ‘Meredith Jones’ he was told. He’s looked over her profile a few minutes before and was now a little late to meet her. But alas, being in the position he was of course last minute details arose and pestered him, the incompetence of some people, but you didn’t here it from him. He pushed the door open, a small smile perking his usually expressionless yet attractive face as his chocolate brown eyes clapped on the woman, seeing Cassandra nearby he paused and bit her and good afternoon before approaching Meredith. “Hello, I’m assuming You’re Meredith Jones?” he greeted, offering her his hand, irish accent thick and smooth in his voice. “I’m Lee Markus” he introduced himself. “I’m head of the department you’ll be working in” he explained.

Sky raised her eyebrows at the distant look and the dark tone, clearly not a good break up. She smiled though at the truer laugh, much better. “When was the last time you just let of some steam?” she asked after a moment, she was bored and it’s harder to be bored if you have someone with you. Sky didn’t really want to get into the whole break up thing, none of her business and long stories were, well, boring. “The kid’s with her dad, right? Well, he can spend some time with her and you can spend some time without her.” she smirked, turning and making her way out of the window. One leg out of the window, the other in, she glanced up at Rook. “Come on,” she grinned, before turning and walking out onto the roof, wondering if Rook would follow or not, but not really caring, she was gunna go have some fun if the other red head came or not.
