‘Shit shit shit’ was the only word revolving around the throbbing head. It picked up pace and became some sort of mantra, as if it was the only proof that he was still alive (And unimaginative). And soon, it was repeated so many times, he had no bloody clue why he was thinking it anymore. A tired, weary groan escaped a bloody lower lip, no doubt burst somehow during the session of manhandling he could barely recall. The slender, athletic body arched slightly off the ground. Discovering this did indeed hurt and required more effort than he was willing to give currently, he slumped back down, willing his world (Which was rather fuzzy right now) to stop spinning. Eyes shut tight, he inhaled deep, heavy breaths as he fought off the urge to throw up, the lungful of the salty tang of blood didn’t help very much, but he managed to settle his stomach after several uncertain moments. His eyes remaining closed as he instead attempted to try his senses one at a time. Smell, seemed to be the easiest to start with. His nose wrinkled, smelling dirt (Funny that) and grass. His brow furrowed, the air was clean, fresh, no scent of people, car fumes, the salty hint of the L.A. Beaches. From this, he gathered that he was no longer in L.A and those stupid scientists decided once more to herd them elsewhere. His fingers were next to detect where he was. They brushed wearily over the lush grass, not trampled by feet, not marred by a lawnmower or by dogs. But there was a canine scent, most definitely, although it was not exactly fresh, so a dog of some sort must have passed by here earlier. Then he tested his earring, still working efficiently as he heard the distant caw of the birds and beating of wings, but no cars or chatter of people. Finally, the familiar sapphire eyes fluttered open, the sun which brushed through the canopy of leaves above, highlighting the silver flecks as his pupils as they dilated to the bright light. Brows furrowing the male’s muscles trembled in protest as he eventually managed to right himself into a sitting position with a soft grunt. He rubbed his head, some blood smudging on his palm as he touched his tender temple. Just a scratch, the blood had already clotted which saved him some trouble. He licked the blood from his lower lip and blinked heavily a few times to clear his sight so everything came into focus. His glanced around him, taking in the tall evergreen trees, a forest, a thick bloody forest too. Not L.A that was for sure. “Hello?” his voice came out rough and quiet, he grimaced. Seemingly they hadn’t been gentle or considerate towards him when he was dumped here. He cleared his throat, and tried again. “HELLO!?” his voice merely echoed about the trees and the silver haired teen frowned as he glanced about him again, merely recieving the caw of some birds. His ears pinned back at the rustle in the bushes and he glanced around him again, ears pricked up and muscles, despite the stiffness, tensed further. His lower body was clad in, now rather dirty, denim jeans and upper body in a simple black wife beater, exposing the long strong arms and a fair amount of pale flesh due the low curving neckline. His head turned sharply in the direction of the parting bushes, a lone wolf stepping out, following by two more curious animals. He took in the sight of the wolves, showing no fear to being come across by the wild animals. “Well I don’t suppose you can tell me where to go” he sighed. “I swear those buggers just do this to me because it amuses them” he muttered dryly, pushing himself up off the ground, head tilted as he approached the wolves which took a few steps back, eyeing him warily. “Just you three then?” he mused, obviously unable to understand them, being of the cat persuasion himself. A small yip at the feet of the third scraggly brown female caused him to look down at the pup. “Sorry, four” he smirked. “Ah well…better start walking then” he murmured, knowing he’d need to find the rest of the group, it would be good practice and help him take in more of the area. It seemed vaguely familiar. With that remaining thought, and being tailed by the four wolves who were eyeing him curiously. He tutted lightly. “Do I attract strays or something?” he queried to himself, making his leisurely way through the forest. Maybe he could catch some dinner while he was at it? ((Will attracts stray things ))

Bridget was slowly waking the new scents around her bringing memories of Alaska back to her. Though it smelled even cleaner still. She blinked her lilac blue eyes open and looked around the brightness of the area making her close her eyes for a moment. She stood slowly and looked about again she was in a thick forest the smell of water near by. She flicked her ear as a bug landed on the scared part. She shifted to her leopard form as she began to treck out in the direction of the water source she smelled. She padded along her eyes looking around feeling lost and uneasy. She soon quickened her pace as she heard the water. Upon arival she slipped into the water and swam around some to rid herself of the lab scent on her from earlier.
--------------------
Piper woke slowly siting up she looked around franticly for her little brother. "Michael?!" She barked as she stood in her dog form. She ran around for a few moments before seeing his form laying in a grassy area near by she ran over to him and sat next to him ears perked as she looked around keeping guard.
------------
Twilight was passed out her jaw bruised and mouth bleeding. She continued to sleep a while longer her wings out behind her as she lay on the warm sand under the shade of a palm tree. She felt strange like a some one was helping the palm tree keep her under the soothing shade. Like a guardian spirit.
-----------
Ianalee waking up in a stranger place then you once were is never a fun experience. She looked around her tail fell into something cool and wet and she she sat up eyes wide before looking out at the lake her dragon head looking down. She looked at her reflection and shivered. She sat up wings folded. She looked to the sky and area around her confused she was in a grassy area under a tree by a lake. She stood and began to walk around the light catching in her horns tossing light about.

Skyler had fallen asleep for the rest of the trip, his body needed the extra rest considering the drama that had gone on. The cargo ship had docked, the mid sea-storm had been past, and now the skies were blue and pristine. The experiments had been dropped off in different nearby sites, to prevent pandemonium. Soon the questions that mingled in their minds of wheres, and whats would be answered when they opened their eyes. Some would revisit a familiar but changed place and memory, others a new set land to explore. The elk-boy awoke many hours later. The sun was moderately high in the in the horizon, it was probably some time in the after noon. Before he saw anything he felt, smelled and heard it. He felt patches of sand and grass under his skin. The sound of waving crashing on the shore along with the chatter of exotic birds, and crickets filled his ears. Then the most defining was air. The atmosphere was free of smog or chemicals, it was salty and fresh. The wind was not stifled by buildings, and instead ruffled his matted hair and ran coolly over his neck. The boy had been lying face down, and spat sand out from his mouth, wiping his face with the back of his hand. He sat up and from a bird eye’s few the antlers swiveled round, scanning the surroundings. He was in a field of tall grass and shrubs, not far in the distance were the beginnings of a tree line, and behind him was the perfectly turquoise ocean. The scene was familiar and it gripped his gizzard. The only thing that was missing was the heavily walked trails that wove through the grass were now gone from vacancy. He got legs wobbly like a new born deer, knees feeling weak still now adjusting to unmoving ground. He squinted into the sunlight, putting a hand over his brow looking for a sign of the experiments. His radio-dish sized ears caught something on the wind, a voice that had been mutilated from the distance and echo. He called back to it. “HELLO?! I come in peace!! HEY!” he called out on the top of his lungs. He started to jog towards the forest, in hopes of finding a friend and not foe.

A small grizzle escaped the sore lips of the would be leader, had he his experiments to lead. He sighed in frustration, losing his patience for the silence and solitude and endless forest. He tutted, raising his arm to brush the leaves of a low hanging branch with his fingertips and giving a light sigh. He heard a small growl echoed behind him, looking back to see the three skinny females wolves and stumbling pup still tailing him. “ You guys are still here then” he said with a wry smile, supposing it wasn’t so bad as he had at least some company, although he couldn’t communicate. He tutted lightly and eyes the females. They were quite small in stature, thin, fur scraggly and muddy around their paws and they had some scratches on their muzzles and sides. “On your own too then?” he mused to the small bunch, it was odd for them not to have a male (Pup excluded) with them to form a proper pack, it looked more like a bunch of rejects chased from the pack than anything else. “Hm, food is in order I think” he murmured, attempting to approach the wolves but again, they retreated with s few sounds of what he believed may have been warning. He cocked his head to the side, deciding to leave it. He didn’t want to scare them off, after all, at least then he had a reason to talk to himself. Had he not had the wolves and began talking to himself, he’d have to start doubting his own sanity. Excuses were wonderful things. “Come on then” he mused turning and walking away again, glancing over his shoulder at the hesitated but following wolves. He guessed they simply needed a male, whom they presumed to be strong, to aid them. Clever wolves, or maybe it was just a female thing. His ears perked as he heard a voice, or at least he assumed it was, a voice, over the muted sounds of nature. He broke into a light run, his own body aching in protest but ignored it, intent not to give in to a little discomfort. He could hear the heavier beats of paws behind him and the clumsy gait of the pup, he decided to slow down just for his sake. Poor thing. However, all he found was a waterfall. He stopped at the side of the wide river which fell away to the falls, he huffed but it was drowned out by the thunderous growling of the falling water. Had he peered over the edge of the falls to the water basin beneath, he may have recognised the surroundings as the waterfall that had the cave beneath the falls, that had the heart etched into the wall with his and Rook’s name engraved on the damp wall. Or the river that led to the sea that was a mile or so from the old camp. Instead he travelled up stream to where the current wasn’t so strong although the water falls growl could still be heard and knelt down, eagerly drinking to quench his thirst and soothe his dry throat, washing the blood and dirt from his face. The wolves followed suit, bowing their heads to drink, although kept a weary eye on their guide.

" Where am I?" Was the first murmured words of the blond haired male's, hair cascading over his eyes and vulture wings open behind him. Damien didn't like this one bit. The air around him reeked of chemicals, but there was also a smell of...salt on the air? His nose twitched slightly as he rubbed his eyes. The light above him were far too bright for his liking, rubbing his eyes. Glancing around himself, Damien soon realized something. He was completely alone. Every way he looked was clear glass or a wall. And the walls felt far too close for his comfort. Damien quickly slid backward, pressing his back firmly against the tiled wall, trying to control his breathing.
He would never admit it, but he was death scared of small spaces, and this was basically screaming 'The wall is slowly going to move forward and crush you against the glass' at him. His mind began to piece together what had happened. He had been caught by the lab. He had been put on a boat. And now he woke up in, essentially, a huge viewing cube. He looked above himself, and then below. He couldn't see through either of them. His eyes scanned the floor, but there didn't seem to be a trap door. I suppose the scientist's had finally met the 21st century, and he was one of the first to experience it. He pulled his jacket closer around himself, slowing his breathing. He wasn't going to panic.
---------
He had to be dreaming. The sound of waves crashing met his ears as his body began to rouse from dream land. His eyes softly flickered open, scanning the sky above him as clouds met his gaze. That was when he realized he wasn't alone. Michael glanced to his left and a smile lit his face, seeing Piper. Then, the normal killer head ache hit him after he was tranqed, his ears back as he fought back the pain. That really did hurt.

Uneven paw steps crunched over fresh grass, one paw not hitting the floor at all, another only for a second before the weight became too much and it had to be withdrawn from the ground. What a time to be thrown into a new world, she could barely stand, let alone fend off any predators or hunt for food. Jo finally paused, her body trembling slightly as she sunk to her haunches, her front right paw hovering inches off of the ground. She closed her dulled out green eyes and tried to recall what had happened over the past, well, she couldn’t even work out how long it had been. Kira was going to take her back to the hide out, and then everything went blank. She had been sedated, then a scientist had stitched up her wounds. They had only done a half ass job, all of the glass had been removed, the large piece on her shoulder had required surgery, then a few stitches, a couple of bandages and she was moved onto the island and woken up. She hadn’t been in the best of moods when she had woken, she was furious that those bastards had gotten their hands on her, she would rather have died. In anger she had torn the bandages from her body and torn a couple of the stitches out as well. Her fur, limp and listless, was once again covered in fresh blood, as well as the dried blood that was from the original anger filled moment. Then she had started to move, all the time in her wild dog form as her human form wouldn’t have been able to handle the wounds she had inflicted upon herself when she trashed the injection room. While she walked some of her sanity came flooding back to her, as she began to realise that she was no longer in L.A., and there were wild animals around here. A pang struck her heart when she thought about Kira, he had been there, and now, once again, he was gone. She wasn’t even sure if he had been real or not, maybe he had just been her imagination? Had she simple been wishing for the one thing she needed, the only man she had ever loved? But then the more immediate danger dawned on her, she was alone, near a forest, somewhere but with no idea where, there were wild animals everywhere, and she was covered in blood and fresh wounds. She could barely stand, she looked a wreck, in her mind, she was screwed. But she couldn’t just sit still, she reluctantly pulled herself to her paws and started to walk again, her head hung, her eyes staring at her paws, her entire body concentrating on putting one paw in front of the other. Her front right paw held above the ground, it had been her right shoulder that had the large piece of glass stuck in it, her back left paw was the one that could barely stay on the ground for a second.
Her nose twitched as the scent of wolves hit it, three adult wolves were nearby, all female, her ears fell back. Her nose was adapted to pick up the scent of her species over any other animal, as dogs were all so closely related it picked up the scent of the wolves easily. Her ears fell, that’s just the last thing she needed, trying to ignore the scent, rather then concentrate on it, she started walking that little bit faster. As she walked she attempted to put weight on her front right leg, a yelp sounded out across the grass, she cursed in her head and started to walk again, she just had to get out from here.

“You’re in the new USASI lab,” the answer sounded from further down the corridor, just out of Damien’s sight. Corbin Blane walked forward into view, brown eyes peering at the first experiment to wake up in one of the newly designed cages, a smirk rolled onto his lips. “Good afternoon, Damien,” he said pleasantly, walking forward and picking up Damien’s progress report attached to the side of his cage. “Your vitals are looking good,” he reported. “An increased heart rate, but that’s hardly suspiring now, is it?” Corbin looked up from the chart and nodded pleasantly to Damien, you would have though he was an old friend, rather then the one who had put Damien there. “I’m Corbin, by the way,” he introduced himself, tipping the rim of his fedora.

Simultaneously, as if they were all keyed into each other’s senses, four heads lifted sharply at once. Three sets of pointed ears and a pair of silver rounded ones. Eyebrows rose as the sharp yelp that cut through the trees. He glanced at the wolves who were shuffling in the shall water nervously. Clearly it was a canine and a pained one by the sound of it. He watched as the wolves herded the pup to walk between them, shielded from danger. The teen took a moment to smile and admire their protectiveness over the cub and their team work to protect it, although if the females didn’t look like they could hold their own in a fight currently, they looked more likely to flee than fight. The male stood, brushing his wet hands through the spiky black hair as he flicked his tail the wolves. Tail twitching he pushed himself up and began to approach the sound, all he knew was that it was an animal of some sort and could have been an experiment or an injured dog of some kind. Might as well add to his little forming gaggle of strays. He tutted lightly, smirking as the animals trailed more warily behind him as he moved towards the sound. “Hello?” he called, trying to pinpoint the direction the sound had come from, he tutted lightly as he moved, brushing aside bushes and branches that got in his way, making sure they didn’t flick back at the wolves. He occasionally stopped when he heard the scampering of squirrels and birds up above and some rustles in the undergrowth but he didn’t stop long. He would hunt later. He hadn’t done so in a while, but the instinct was still their, to nurse and to feed and care for himself and others and to do so, he had to hunt. “Hello?” he called again, the wind, riddled with earthy tangy scents, also brought the familiar salty hint of blood.

Twilight woke up and looked around. She stood up quickly ignoring the sickness she got. She spread her wings looking around. "DAMIEN!?!" She yelled. She ran along the beach and then took flight. She flew up over the beach that seemed to go on forever. She could tell she was on the western side and looked around. She flew higher circling on a thermal. Her eyes widened as she could not see the other side of the Island at all. Her jaw dropped but she closed it so not to end up with things in it. "No, NO, NO!" She screeched at the top of her lungs. She did not see Damien around any where either. She began to fly around screeming his name. "DAMIEN!!!" She was fighting the pain in her jaw and the sting of her tears as she flew around lost things different then she was last here. She flapped her large wings now and then as she looked around for any other familur people.

Skyler’s ears fell with disappointment when his call went unanswered. He wove his way through the tall grass that nearly touched nose. He wasn’t sure what was safer the open fields, or enclosed forest. One he could see clearly and the other couldn’t but may find cover. As he walked he glanced at the ground every now and then to make sure the ground was even. He was smart to not morph to elk to cover more ground from previous experience, unless he was with another experiment that had a carnivorous set of DNA. Then something caught his eye that was imprinted in the semi-dry soil. He knelt down; they were large canine tracks, still bold, fresh. He gulped, nervously scanning the area again. Then he spied what he had feared most; the hunched shoulders of an animal meandering about brush. Although the pattern was not wolf-like, the coat was a molted color with patches of black, tan and orange. He hoped he was right, he stood on his toes and called out to the figure several yards away. “Jo!? That you?!” he yelled, voice holding an anxious quiver. It was curious she had not picked his presence up yet, although the wind was blowing in his direction, and his musky scent was more likely to be carried towards the trees. The wild dog was moving slowly, it seemed weak, so he decided it was safe to begin a brisk pace toward the female canine. He was almost certain it was her, there were never any wild dogs on the island.

Piper looked to her brother with a sigh. "I don't know I have only heard of this place." Piper said. She moved over to her brother and gently licked his face. Piper looked around and moved over to sniff at some grass. She looked around and howled.

Bridget climbed out of the water hearing a few voices. She began to walk toward the voice that sounded familur. "Skyler?" She walked toward the sound of Skyler's voice and the scent of him. She shook her head as she thought of what Will would say if he found her and without Dreamcaster. She walked out of forest and looked out at a large feild of grass.

" Just great, out of one cage, into a whole new kind ," Damien tried to mutter under his breath, but it came out a lot louder than he had meant it. Big sign he was scared. He always spoke louder than he meant to when he was scared. He pulled his wings closer to his back as he looked the man over. Confident, un caring. Thats what Damien could tell just by looking at the man. Then a thought crossed his mind. Was Twilight OK? He had two options here. 1) Ask Corbin and seem like he's already given up. Or 2) Go completely against your heart and forget it...Pretty obvious right. " Can I ask you if one of the other's is okay, or at least if you know that she's okay? It's Twilight, or Tanya ," Damien asked. His voice wasn't pleading, but it was just his normal voice. The worrying about the one that's your other voice that commonly flowed from his voice box. His hands where in his pockets, and just talking with the man was actually calming him down. Keeping his mind off of the small space. God he hoped she was OK.

Jo paused as a human voice called out. She frowned, her ears forward, her eyes closed as she concentrated on the voice, waiting for it to call again. It did, and her eyes shot open. Her brain was working slowly, but the voice was unmistakable. "Will?" she just about managed to call back, her voice horce and shaken, it didn't sound like her at all. She scented the air, but all her nose caught was the smell of wolves, and they were moving closer. Another growl rolled through her throat, she may be injured but she was no push over in a fight. She hadn’t noticed the smell of the pup, or of Will, her senses were mangled, like her body. How she hated being weak, she couldn’t stand it. She needed time to heal, and she could have gotten it if they had just gotten out of that lab. But now she was forced to use up the precious energy she needed for healing. She didn’t have long to think about what she needed when another call sounded. Her head whipped around as her name was called from another direction, her body tensed for a second before she recognised the figure coming towards her. “Skyler?” she called back, then sighed. “Yeah, yeah it’s me,” her voice grew slightly in strength, but still it wasn’t her normal, confident self. She sighed, just great, in one way these were the two people she trusted the most. Will and Skyler were two of the people she had gone through most of the USASI with, apart from Kira the two people she had gotten closet with. And yet she wished more then anything they were two other people, she hated the idea of them seeing her like this, even though they had both seen her at some of her worst moments. She couldn't move easily, so decided just to let them both come to her.

The cheetah kept moving. Altering his direction when the felt he was drifting too far east or west of the sound. It just figured that the wind decided to go against him and change direction altogether. Honestly, why was that even possible? Damn bloody wind. Scowling and pausing, his ears pricked out, he failed to pick up another sound loud enough to catch his attention. All he heard was the heavy breathing of the female wolves behind him and he sighed. Giving up on tailing the strange sound. He was hungry, and his stomach was making noises of its own. He looked around him to the sparse trees, biting his lower lip before wincing and releasing it. Forgetting it had been cut. He gave an aggravated sigh, he wasn’t fond of hunting in forests, he was agile but he preferred open spaces and chases, where there was nowhere for his prey to hide. Tutting he turned and moved off I na random direction, following the river at his side. Hopefully they’d come across an animal that on a drink and he could eat, along with his little tag alongs.

Corbin smiled at Damien and nodded. "Twilight, yes, she's been released on the island. She's a bit bruised, but other then that I think she's ok," he replied. It was pleasant, for once, to have an experiment talk to him normally, rather then screaming their head off at him. “And what about you, can I ask how you are feeling?” He put the chart back on the side of the cage and grabbed the chair from the end of the corridor. He sat himself down on it and watched Damien with interest. Part of this encounter was to find out if these cages worked, Corbin thought it would be best to get the experiment so worked up that he throw himself at the cage to try and get out, but it seemed like this might not be the right experiment to try that on. After all, Corbin had found one that hadn’t sworn at him yet, not a good idea to get him mad for no reason now, is it?

Skyler jogged over to Jo, her voice sounded haggard and his eyebrows sloped upward in worry of what he might find. He reached the canine, her posture was rather pathetic and she looked gaunt and her fur was unceremoniously matted. He kneeled next her. He had rather recovered quickly being the energetic little kid he was. The sedative had worn off, and he only had a few cuts down his cheek and nose that hardly affected him at all. “Hey! You don’t look so good, Jo. Just glad we all made in somewhat of one piece…Hey maybe would stop here so you can rest. If we stop moving it will give the others a chance to find us,” he said putting a gentle hand on her chest so she would stop in her tracks. He stood up again, keeping a look out for the others. He heard Bridget’s voice coming from the beach, and he quickly responded. “Bridget! Over here!” he called out waving a hand like a flag so she could spot them.

Bridget ran over tail out like a rudder. "SKYLER!" She said shifting human and running to him and giving him a hug. She looked around and saw Jo and her eyes widened at the limping girl. Bridget shifted to her leopard form agian and raised her head and roared. She praied that some one else would here or Will would.

His eyes were set on the prey ahead of him. A rabbit innocently grazing on the long lush grass not thirty meters away. He was crouched, fingers brushing the grass to give him good leverage to launch into a run. The wolves lingered behind him, licking their own lips as shuffling quietly behind him, knowing exactly what was intent on doing. His ears pinned back and the forest seemed to dissolve around him, the rabbit remaining his sole focus. Then, just as he was about to lunge forward, a roar echoed like distant thunder causing all heads to perk and birds to scatter with mad calls of warning. The cheetah snapped his head around and swore profusely at seeing the vacated spot the rabbit had been moments before. The damn thing had fled. He snarled quietly under his breath, his hunger lessening his mood as he roughly pushed himself up into a standing position and stalked through the wolves whom quickly parted to let him passed, fur bristling at the frustration emanating from the male. Ears pinned back, he scowled up t the sky, arms folded across his chest as a contemplative look crossed his face. It sounded closer, the same direction the yelp had come from earlier. Had an animal found the wounded canine perhaps? Most likely. He glanced at the wolves that were watching him intently, heads cocked lightly to the side in an endearing manner. “Maybe there will be scraps left” he mused. It would at least settle the wolves stomach, they looked rather mangy and underfed anyway, they wouldn’t be too proud to turn down some food. Sighing he made his way in the direction of the roar which rumbled with a bit more force than the sharp yelp which had sliced the air and disappeared before. The deeper sound lingered far longer, making it easier to follow. He didn’t bother calling this time, but his nose wrinkled as the smell of blood assaulted his senses, ears flattening against his head his brow furrowed, breaking through the last few thick tresses of bushes before coming upon the small fathering of experiments. “Well, there goes my lovely, brief moment of peace” he commented. The wolves peering over the bushes behind him, growling softly to one another while eyeing the newer experiments.

Skyler smiled broadly, white teeth showing brightly from his dark skin, laughing with arms outstretched as the snow leopard girl embraced him. She knocked him a few steps back but he leaned forward wrapping his arms around her torso squeezing her tight. “Hey Bridge! Good to be back together again,” he said stepping back to look her over. “Missed you,” he said giving her plush tail a playful yank. He looked down at Jo, his grin fading some with worry. “We’ve been waiting for the others…” he said biting his lip. “We could really use having your bro around now,” he said ears flattening as Bridget roared. He put his fingers in his ears. “I thought snow leopards couldn’t roar,” he said his heart skipping a few beats. “That’s one way to do it, I guess.” The elk-boy waited for a few minutes as the cluster idly remained in their spot, arms crossed. Then from the dark and bushes out came the familiar silver hair and blue eyes. He hadn’t seen Will in a while, he having disappeared from the restaurant for a while. “WILL! Dude! Long time no see!” exclaimed Skyler again grinning widely, he ran through the space between them and the older male, but they his heels dug into the dirt and the boy abruptly stopped. His ivy colored eyes timidly gazed behind the shoulders of Will seeing the round canine faces, then followed by low growls. He looked from the wolves the cheetah-boy looking father puzzled with his company. The antlered boy began moving backwards taking careful steps back. If Will wanted a hug, he’d have to come to him, there was no way he was getting any closer to wild wolves. “I see you brought some…friends?” he asked ears quirked waiting for an explanation.
