Remi strolled away from the lab. In her imagination she wished the lab had dissipated in an explosion over her shoulder, ruffling her ragged strands of hair like it would have in a Mission Impossible movie, because really it was. She stopped when she managed to cross the river that had been diminished to a stream from the heat that hadn’t lifted in weeks. The green that had been sucked from the grass, leaving it a crisp brown brush was a tell-tale sign. Maybe it was a good thing her escape hadn’t ended in a climatic burst of flames, because then she would have started a forest fire, and surely the half animal half human population here wouldn’t appreciate it. And at this rate she wouldn’t be surprised if someone in a half form of a bear in a ranger’s cap came up to her and wagged a finger.
The female strolled on reaching the shade of the trees but it was still relatively warm out. She removed her jacket, tying it around her waist. Unlike the regular tapping on her chest from her necklace there was something else, a bounce in her feline ears and a rhythm in her short tail. Remi looked for a place to stop briefly to compose herself even though the scent of the opposite beach was close. She felt far enough away from the lab by now.
The lynx-girl paused catching sight of white roping then the unmistakable form of antlers. She squinted and moved closer. In the small clearing was a tire swing and a hammock which was occupied by a tan male with elk features whom appeared to be snoozing off the midday heat. Remi frowned, who had the ignorance to be napping when they were being held on some hostile island while they could be living the rest of their lives. She had business to be finished.
Remi kicked the hammock causing it to swing precariously, almost dumping the elk-boy on the ground. Skyler woke up with a start, sitting up in his hammock that he had made and set up along with the tire swing a few days ago from a result of boredom. “Um, thanks for ruinin’ the sleep I haven’t had in days, how may I help you?” he greeted, bags under his eyes, hair amuck.
“Sorry to disturb your cat na-“ “You an alpha?” “A what? You mean those awfu—“ “Kay, good,” he replied hastily lowering his shoulders back into the hammock. He readily closed his eyes again hoping the cat-eared stranger would leave him be. The last few nights were strenuous since the small pack of wolves that Will had bumped into were on prowl on the opposite end of the island. Although Remi wasn’t finished with Skyler. “I’m not done with you. I’m not sitting around here like a bum while I have a life outside this hell,” she spat, kicking the curve of the boy’s back through the material. The elk-boy sat up glaring at her. “I agree with you but I’ve been on this island a while now. I’ve been there done that, miss sass.” The female went silent crossing her sturdy arms over her chest. She was disappointed that she had come this late when others were now merely trying to survive when there wasn’t enough energy among the group to band together. “I hear you got a leader? Will?” “He hasn’t been doin’ much uh, leadin’ lately, miss,” said the elk-boy shielding his eyes from the light that filtered through the trees. “I can tell you’re new. You come here, strong, adrenaline pumped…ready to fight for what’s important to you. The rest of em’ can’t be assed. Five years livin’ like this, four years since we banned together and tried to break free,” he continued on stifling a yawn. It pained him to tell her this, since he was one of the last ones to give up.
“What have you got to loose? You’ve just given up fighting, that it?” “Yeah pretty much—“ Skyler was cut short as Remi’s hand shout out and grabbed at him below the belt. He let out a small startled shout, scooting farther away from her on the netting. The elk-boy sent her an accusing scowl, eyes round, ears flat against his head, and subconsciously an arm covering his lap. “What’s that?” Remi asked grinning smugly. “T’ hell! Those were my balls,” “I didn’t think you had any,” she retorted frowning. “Well I’m off to find someone that’s a little more willful, and not so absorbed in his petty afternoon nap,” she said turning with a dismissive hand raised. “Good riddance!” Skyler shouted after her. At that, Remi turned around and twisted the hammock with the elk-boy in it completely upside down dumping him on the ground. It was a mess, his antlers were tangled in the fine netting. He tried to reach up and unweave himself but knots were up high. If he pulled too hard he’d likely damage his antlers since they were still relatively soft, covered in velvet and nerves ran through them. The lynx-girl didn’t turn around at the pleads for assistance, maybe he’d learn something from that little encounter. She finished her walk to the shoreline where the other experiments roamed.

The time since his last victim was driving Marcus insane, the length between kills seemed like an endless void, taunting him. It wanted him to snap, and he felt that it was winning by a long shot. Marcus quickly threw everything in its place, and entered the kill room that he had come to know so well. Why he engaged in such actions made him think about his sanity, which was very little at the moment. A small breath of air exhaled from his mouth- he couldn't label it as a sigh nor a huff. It was just.... there. Like he was. He was standing in an empty room, cleaned to perfection, and he would have normal left it alone, but that nagging was enough to pull him down. He needed somebody to be on that table again, and it was just about time for the dinner hour on the Island. He grinned to himself, assembling everything he would need. But first there had to be a victim. And why shouldn't he be up for a challenge today? Marcus's old morals had gone to waste, that only the filth that had deserved to die (others would probably agree with his choices, at least the news sounded a bit relieved). Now he was left with the innocent, and the used. The new ones, experiments, the alphas (which heaven forbid, even he was self controlled enough not to mess with them, kids or not).
He sat himself down, exiting the prepared and wrapped-in-plastic room that anybody was too oblivious to see (thank god, or else he'd had been screwed to high heaven), and turned his computer monitor back on, dis-activating the sleep mode. Normally he wouldn't call for a password, since nobody ever walked into his room (for reasons that hadn't bothered him for years), but times were changing, and he, with them. He scanned through the old, the disappeared, the alphas even, and the new. Remi Harvey. She was a self confident, nothing-is-more-badass-than-me-right-now seeming femme, why not? All she would be introduced to was hatred, violence, and everything else this bloody island (literally) was made out of. He was doing her a kindness. Even if nobody saw it that way. He grabbed his back, and placed the drug-filled needle in his pocket. Tranqs were the only free thing for scientists in that damed lab.
He hummed slightly as he went, nothing in particular. But as soon as he walked out the door, he was as quiet as the island. With the exceptional "ocean". He walked quietly, already knowing where the girl was. No, he wasn't psychic. He heard her. That confident, cocky voice could be heard easily. The drone of a ale was with her, but he didn't worry. It was odd though, killing on the first trip. Usually, in his old habits, this trip would be trying to prove a victim's guilt. It almost felt good to throw that out the window. His clothing could conceal him, his scent was blown away by the wind. The male was in a tangle, facing the opposite direction. He couldn't do much now. Marcus glanced up, reaching for the needle in his pocket, moving closer to the turned girl, poised to strike. This moment had been killing him, no pun intended. He needed this, had needed it. And now it was almost over. In the background, a symphony of wolves.
Ooc;; I'm leaving it at that, so she has reaction times and such. xD

The soft white light was edging closer as the end of the forest was within reach. She could see the blue water through the trees that declined in density. Something stopped her from reaching her destination. A click. She whipped around her fiery amber eyes unafraid to challenge what lay unknown. Her nose wrinkled. Not an hour after leaving that wretched place and they already needed her back. What those scientists needed was about to be outweighed by what they could handle.
Remi shifted to her lynx form. It was her second time in trial, but she was well in tune with the new animalistic instincts. Human and animal merged quite easily for her. The feline dashed between the trees. She didn’t want to make an easy static target for whoever the bastard was. From the placing of the sound it had gained middle ground between her and where she had come from, the elk-boy. Running was no good, because you had to fight claw to hand at some point and by that point she would be tired.
Her large slit pupils found their attacker. A man stood with a syringe in hand. Peculiar that her opponent chose such a close range weapon, but it did give her an advantage. The animal lunged, tufted ears pinned flat against her head, teeth bared. She was fast unlike big cats that lumbered forward. She appeared to be sprinting straight at him, until she swerved and leaped onto a tree scrambling up onto a branch. Having height over the attacker changed the game.
The cat charged again for the male’s back claws outstretched and fine tipped teeth aiming for the spine below the skull.

He heard his mistake before realizing it. Marcus cursed under his breath, glancing down at the ground, and back up at the experiment. He grimaced, staring at her as she registered him. He surged forward, but it was useless, seeing as she had already disappeared from view. He ran back, a string of vulgarities pouring in his mind. The slitted eyes glared at him, and the female rushed him, pounced to the side, and sprung up the tree closest to him. Their temporary stare-down was interrupted by the explosion of howls in the near distance. Marcus was in over his head, and he knew it. He knew some of them had to be experiments, but that didn't matter now. Or maybe it did. He wasn't having the easiest time. He snapped back in reality soon enough to look up again, greeted with the site of claws. Marcus swooned backwards, feeling the sharp pain rip down his abdomen. "Shit!" Marcus glared at the feline, quickly stumbling back but, mercifully, not tripping. This was a horrible decision. He should have known better than to come out at the mercy of the moment. The new lifestyle and he weren't working out. Either he would have to quit what he was doing (which was virtually impossible), or find a new way. He hadn't even looked down at himself yet, which was the dreaded synopsis later. Marcus looked back, foolishly. He was still deciding how to get into the lab as casually as possible.
The crimson liquid was soaking up his shirt, leaving the scent clinging to the air. What a joy. The scientist slowed his pace, breathing deepening. He entered the locked facility, finding the nearest elevator, and worked his way up. The three raked marks were deep, the predator was aiming to kill. After all, she had every reason to. He only knew that he would never make that mistake again. Marcus locked himself in his room like an upset, frantic teenager. Removing hid shirt, he grimaced down at himself, fixing himself as well as he knew possible, cleaning and addressing. He finally sucked in a deep breath, feeling the damaged muscle and tissues expanding and making him cringe. After a while, he wrapped himself with cloth, and put a clean shirt on. What a great week.
----------------------
Kaitey
The last few months had been hell to deal with, having everything mashed together in some crappy wad. Kaitey had been looking for new lifestyles, and the discovery of a wolf pack had been a new option. She was frowned upon for her size, and she would just have to accept that herself. And she had, it really seemed to get better each day. The lack of her human skin was making her nervous, though. Would she be changed in any way? Kaitey looked around her- she had split up from the pack. It was too cliche for her taste, something that would require the loss of all human instincts, only falling prey to the animalistic ones. She tried not to think about the situation with Nathan and Natalie, and... Skyler. She couldn't function properly, thinking about the tension that had pushed them apart. She blamed it on herself, but mostly nature. Sure it was a load of BS, but hey. She deserved everything that was being thrown at her.
She trotted through the foliage, nose to the ground. It was time to apologize, even if it meant... a split. It would hardly do anything, seeing that they were already so far apart. But there was time enough time for that later. Heavy paws thudded against the thick, lush green floor. The only unsightly thing was her, sticking out against it. She ruined the imagery, and the peacefulness. Birds flew frantically away, small creatures invisible to the naked eyes rustled to safety. Kaitey grimaced, her heavy frame heaving out from a sigh. Life just wanted to give her a thorough ass-kicking, apparently.
She knew this conversation couldn't be done while she was an animal. She would have to be... human. The only reason she despised that word right now was because it mean having to reveal emotions that she could hide as a wolf or wolverine. Every smirk, grimace, frown, maybe even tear, would be completely visible. And that sucked. Sure, Skyler would have to endure the same thing, but she wasn't sure who it would be worse for. Nature was indeed reflecting the worst of her, shining her dimmed, dark colors on the forest. Sure, they were shadows, but looking at them made her energy for what was to come diminish quickly.
Not only was it mentally exhausting but physically as well. She would just stop thinking about it. Kaitey nosed the air, taking in the closest things, as well as the farthest. And mixed in that was elk, a scent she knew all too well. The female felt her fur disappear, and her bones crack into place uncomfortably. The agonizing sound could probably be heard for miles, but nobody would know. It was different when you were huge. You had to expand and shrink down. Like a beast being unleashed. She didn't like to describe it that way.
Kaitey ran a reassuring hand over her face- just to make sure everything was normal. Or as normal as it could get. A pulsing headache also rattled her, but that was the least of her problems. As the wolves called to each other in the near background, she was getting changed with the average attire. A pair of baggy sweats, gray. And a navy T-shirt, with a thin jacket on over. It was much more comfortable then running around in jeans. More flexibility. The Alpha girl, Kaitey forgot her name now, had given her a good supply, which she kept in a buried compartment a few miles away from the shoreline.
Instead of sneaking forward, she made sure to step on every branch possible, letting the elk-boy know that somebody was coming. Or whoever else was there, actually. It was more for her own personal safety, when dealing with experiments. They were suspicious things, and if she didn't appear dangerous nothing bad would happen, right? Her keen eyes caught the sight of the male tangled up in a netting, and another female had darted into the woods, after something. That wasn't her focus now, though. She knew, however, that Skyler would have to get untangled before they could have their.... heart- to - heart speeches. Kaitey pulled a covered pocket knife from the pocket of her pants ( something she had found a while back, it had been quite handy, actually) and cut the knot at the end of the hammock. From there he should have been able to life the silk away from himself.
"You appear to be in a bit of a situation." She finally said something normally, like they used to talk. The smirk behind her words was obvious, but even she knew there was no time to joke around. "But sorry if that ruined all of your hard work..."

Remi let her claws retract when she felt the man curse and frantically try to shake her off. She pushed off the scientist with force letting her claws dig in with take off if they should need to. She landed and turned her head around letting out a hostile hiss only to see the older male flee.
She didn’t want any more blood than that. She had victory and he had his chance. She shifted back to her human form, wiping the blood off her finger tips on a nearby tree. The howls were growing louder and finished her trek to the beach and off the wolves’ hunting turf not wanting to get caught in another tussle.
It was a rough welcome to the world of USASI. -- Skyler’s face scrunched up arms over his head trying madly to untangle the find threads from his antlers. He let out a huff arms aching with the effort. The hammock was more of an enemy then a comfort item now. The item had turned back into what it was intended to be used for. He twisted himself in and out of the loops trying to untie the fray. He almost gave it a rest when howls echoed through the trunks of the tree. His heart pumped and his body released adrenaline like crazy. The male let out a small wheeze, his glands were over doing it, and caused his muscles to decrease in coordination. The chemicals weren’t making the untangling process go much faster. It was something he could probably handle especially with so many other experiments around, but his DNA was being over bearing. The elk-boy’s ears perked, moss colored eyes sweeping the forest. Someone was nearing but was doing the courtesy of not being discreet. He felt another wave hit and it almost made him nauseous. Whatever it was, it wasn’t posing a threat.
Finally a familiar face appeared from the foliage. Maybe his brain would see and it and believe it and give it a rest. Despite situation or previous feelings, Skyler grinned in her presence. “Hey Kaitey. Yeah, I w-was jes' minding my own business,” he greeted waving an uncontrollably trembling hand, so much that he had to sit on his palms. “I swear, you didn’t scare me /that/ much,” he chuckled. Skyler lowered his head a bit for Kate’s knife to do the work, and felt the tension go from his neck. He brushed the pieces of rope off his shoulders. He stood up, knees trembling. “Thanks, it's no biggie—“ His hands flew to his mouth, wincing. “Ah…bet mah tongue,” he uttered sitting back down again. “Give me a sec,” he said taking a few deep breathes waiting for the adrenaline to burn off. It was a strange sight to be shivering on a hot and humid day.
Skyler’s eyes studied Kate’s dark mahogany eyes. He knew there was something underlying her presence. There was that look again, and it had gone unaddressed for too long. “...I want to say sorry for being…I dunno. Judging you I guess, the last I saw you I wasn’t paying attention to all the factors,” he stated shoulders evening out. “I was scared,” he said glancing away from Kaitey’s face. “I didn’t know how to deal with those emotions so I struck out on my own,” he admitted. “I think we’ve been avoiding each other over a stupid sort of word. Everything was easier when we were just ‘friends’,” he said with a sigh, hoping he had gone out on the correct limb to sympathize with Kaitey.

The pale-faced but sweating elk injected had the 'caught in headlights' look, leaving Kate puzzled. But then, considering the wolf howls, she figured that the sounds had caused the reactions pouring from the male. "Don't crap your pants, it's just me." She grinned, glancing at him as he lifted the netting from himself. But again, these were all just distractions from what she had been wanting to accomplish, the main reason that she was here.
“Hey Kaitey. Yeah, I w-was jes' minding my own business,” I swear, you didn’t scare me /that/ much,”
She crouched down to see at his eye-level, ignoring the hand that had greeted her. Not much she could say to a wave, and it was a little late to return one. "I figured, the wolves huh? Ironic that you would try to relax as I came in."
"Give me a sec,”
She chuckled, halfheartedly. "Sorry, not trying to creep ya out. Take your time." Kaitey nodded, unknowingly letting the unsure look on her face that was nagging at her inside. She glanced away as she felt him studying her- he knew why she was here before she had even said it. It was something Kaitey needed to work on- predictability. With some of the current events she would have thought that was the complete opposite. But thinking about it, her reckless reaction was to be expected. She had opened her mouth to speak when he had started.
“...I want to say sorry for being…I dunno. Judging you I guess, the last I saw you I wasn’t paying attention to all the factors, I was scared, I didn’t know how to deal with those emotions so I struck out on my own, and I think we’ve been avoiding each other over a stupid sort of word. Everything was easier when we were just ‘friends’,”
Kaitey nodded, taking in his words like they were a medication. And it made her feel better, honestly.
"No, you had every right to. It's not like I gave you a chance or anything... And I ran away before you could even say anything. I was a bitch, plain and simple. And I apologize for that. I deserved it, really. I agree, friends would be... nice. A lot better than not talking at all."
Her lips twitched up in what was almost a smile, and it had gone better than she had expected. But it wasn't over yet, not completely.
"What I did was really juvenile and stupid, and I'm sorry again that I put you through that."

"I figured, the wolves huh? Ironic that you would try to relax as I came in."
“Yeah, wolves…Nah, I knew it was one of the experiments since you were obviously trying to do the opposite of sneakin’ up on me,” he said. He smirked, knowing that during the past few days that being Kaitey was nothing near relaxed. In fact it made him high strung, which made her right about the irony.
"Sorry, not trying to creep ya out. Take your time."
Skyler shook his head getting in a few more deep breathes before he spoke. “Kate, you don’t creep me out. It’s just the side effects of the DNA. I get really bad adrenaline rushes when it’s not necessary. I think I need a lab visit, as much as don’t want to. You know me, I’m not exactly a thrill seeker either,” he explained trying to rid his winded tone.
"No, you had every right to. It's not like I gave you a chance or anything... And I ran away before you could even say anything. I was a bitch, plain and simple. And I apologize for that. I deserved it, really. I agree, friends would be... nice. A lot better than not talking at all."
Skyler frowned at first as Kaitey pinned this all on her self, which seemed to be a growing habit at first. “Nobody deserves to be alone…” he said ears flicking uncomfortably. That was the worse punishment he could have imagined for himself or anyone else, because everyone needed someone. “Glad we’re friends again. I think both of us need a fresh perspective. I’m happy we came to this. Cause’ the sulking thing was just crampin’ my style,” he said, his characteristic lop-sided grin returning, light diffused back into his earth colored eyes. The male gave a light sigh, as if something at drifted off of his chest.
“Ex-girlfriends that don’t kill us guys only make us stronger. Aight’ Kaitey?” he said opening arms for a healthy hug to mend their long sullen departure and reentry to a genuine friendship.

“Yeah, wolves…Nah, I knew it was one of the experiments since you were obviously trying to do the opposite of sneakin’ up on me,”
Kaitey nodded, a half grin appearing and then disappearing. She wasn't sure how to respond, but the fact that he heard her intentionally heavy footsteps relaxed her a bit, let her knew that it wasn't her that gave the elk-boy that terrified look. It did relive her completely though, when he said his second statement. The fact that she wasn't the big bad wolf was soothing on its own- but only if another person said it. She wasn't mentally able to convince herself that she wasn't the devil (no pun intended).
His voice had seemed to become more stable, but the adrenaline was still sticking to him. Kaitey had been looking at the ground, nudging the sand around with her toes, before looking back up to see a disapproving frown after she had spoken. She returned the frown, but with more of a confused look.
"Nobody deserves to be alone..."
For an unknown reason, that phrase made the wolverine-injected uncomfortable, and she shifted her position so that she was plopped on her knees. Kaitey glanced away, chest heaving in a sigh.
"I suppose not..."
Was what she managed to choke out, before he spoke again.
“Glad we’re friends again. I think both of us need a fresh perspective. I’m happy we came to this. Cause’ the sulking thing was just crampin’ my style,”
Kaitey grinned when he did, the old trademark Skyler smile returning with a vengeance.
"Same here, I was getting tired of walking around. And you're right, sulking just doesn't suit you. You need to be that clownish, happy go lucky person again."
Sure it wasn't the perfect description, but it was what she had missed ever since LA, she hadn't seen that grin in forever.
“Ex-girlfriends that don’t kill us guys only make us stronger. Aight’ Kaitey?”
She rolled her eyes, but nodded.
"Sure thing." He had opened his arms, and she took it as an opportunity, seizing it at the moment. Kaitey was done with the awkward conversation. She edged towards him, dramatically opening her arms and smiling.
"Bear hug." She said, wrapping her arms around him.
OOC: GOODDD That was awkward to type xD Please ignore it.

"Same here, I was getting tired of walking around. And you're right, sulking just doesn't suit you. You need to be that clownish, happy go lucky person again."
“Ha thanks Kate,” he said with a cheesy grin, place a hand on the back of neck. “I miss your usual sassy but harmless remarks,” the elk-boy added, feeling his cheeks grow warm. Although, it wasn’t the same kind of color in his skin when he first started having feelings for Kaitey. It was more a campy friend reaction, which was perfectly suitable for the both of them now.
“And ta’ think that living in LA was such a hard thing. We were happier then, not to mention in better spirits,” he admitted. “I think the island has got us all down on our knees, since even the sight of another life is absent.”
“Bear hug,” he repeated after her, taking Kaitey into his arms giving her a hearty squeeze and rocked them both from side to side. It felt reviving to have a reassuring touch. “Hugs solve every problem,” he said releasing her with a content sigh, legs neatly folded and back straight feeling lifted.
Skyler pulled himself to his feet brushing off his pants, finally feeling a little more steady. “So…” the boy looked around, hands shifting their way into their pockets as he rocked back on his heels. “I was thinking bonfire tonight. Bring everyone together.”

It felt strange to finally be free from that damn cast, but he quickly got over it, stretching his arm carefully before using it to push himself to his feet. He gave a half smile in the direction of the doctor before heading out the door, his hand pressed against the wall just to make sure he didn't, you know, walk into a wall or anything. Ashley let out a soft sigh as he turned the corner, the feel of a breeze getting stronger the closer to the exit he got, finally pushing open the doors and leaving into the warm environment that was the island. Walking forward and counting his steps carefully, his hand held out as he reached the number just before the gate and pushing the metallic grating open, walking forward before closing it again. He quickened his pace, doing a half lap of the lab before breaking into a sprint, knowing that the sea was close and he could finally get back into something he had come to love.
As he felt the sand beneath his bare feet, a smile instantly lit his expression, the salty tang of the sea playing on his tongue as he took a deep breath of the sea air, quickly exhaling again before heading toward the water, standing at the edge before shedding his shirt and jeans, swimming trunks underneath them, before diving in to the sea. It was strange for him, getting a chance to relax like this, but apparently some new guy who had been covering for him when his arm was broken was still here, so he had a day off. the blind man easily maneuvered in the water, having learned fairly quickly how to swim as easily as he did once he had received his animal form. Ashley would be residing in that form if people hadn't started to, well, lose any clothing they were wearing whenever they shifted.
His lungs had adapted due to his animal DNA, meaning he could stay underwater for longer than the average human, but not indefinitely. After a couple of minutes, the burning in his lungs told him he needed air, quickly returning to the surface and taking a lungful of fresh air, just treading water on the surface for a few minutes, the soft crashing of waves calming to the 24 year old ears, the soft ebb of the sea just a relaxing pressure on him. He was, for once, feeling relaxed and didn't have anything on his mind as he moved so he was just floating relaxed on the surface of the water, hair clinging to his face but hardly noticing it. His mind wandered to whether or not there was anyone else out on the beach, or i it was just him. Either of those were just fine for him, being by himself was just perfect for now, although company was something he hadn't had in a while.

“Ha thanks Kate, I miss your usual sassy but harmless remarks,”
Kaitey felt a burdened weight life off of her shoulders as he spoke, realizing that everything was going to be all right. She grinned over at him, ignoring the slight flush that had reddened his cheeks slightly.
"You're welcome, and I try."
She commented, feeling a little awkward for the moment of short silence.
“And ta’ think that living in LA was such a hard thing. We were happier then, not to mention in better spirits,” he admitted. “I think the island has got us all down on our knees, since even the sight of another life is absent.”
She nodded, thinking for a moment.
"You know, you're absolutely correct. What were the scientists even thinking when they brought us here?"
She mused, mumbling the last sentence. As they pulled into a hug, she felt herself relax again, nodding when he spoke. She knew it was a mutual contact, but the feeling had been so absent in the past weeks, maybe even months.
“I was thinking bonfire tonight. Bring everyone together.”
Kaitey thought about it, before nodding again. "Great idea... but how the hell are we going to get everyone in one spot? But the fire sounds good... maybe people will just, ya know, come..."
She thought out loud, looking a the ground.

The last thing that he remembered seeing was the needle piercing his arm, and the constant, mortifying burning that crept throughout his body after it followed. Memories of his past life seemed to be erased, and even the short times that he had waken up were foggy to recall. When he had waken up, Logan had expected the entire confliction to have been a dream, just a cursed nightmare that danced along his mind while he slept, safe. Although he wasn't quite sure where he would have been sleeping. The feeling he got when he thought about it was not one of a home, but as a cold place, with warmth that was impossible to access. The male frowned, looking around him. The realization that he was in a tree baffled him slightly, but the fact that when he felt his face it was like tough leather bothered him more. It felt smooth, but with a completely different texture. The Alpha frowned, looking down at the far away forest floor. Slowly, he moved so he could gently climb down, breathing a sigh of relief when his bare feet felt the earth.
The male was confused, in a sense. He knew what happened to him, and it obviously wasn't a dream, since he had seen this place in and out of consciousness. And he had gotten up into the canopy somehow. The constant yearning for water mystified him- never before had he wanted to swim so desperately as he did now. And that wasn't the only thing that he felt washing over him. It was a certain smell of disinfectants, but the musky smell of the forest around him as well, and the animals. His vision had sharpened dramatically, enhanced, he figured, by those needles that were violently jabbed into his forearm. He could hear the far away ocean, waves rolling in from all angles. Sounds of waterfalls came from the west, but the beach sounded much more pleasant.
Logan walked cautiously through the thick brush, his odd eyes scanning the area for what seemed like any hint of danger- it just seemed instinctual. The male reached what seemed like the edge of the woods, about to step forward when he felt something grab his ankle, leaving Logan standing there silently in surprise, his body whipping around. A large, well fed python had attempted at biting his leg, and was obviously in pain when its reptilian body started wrapping around his ankle. Although Logan felt the string from here the teeth had tried to make their mark, nothing was visible, nor did he feel any pain (expect for the pressure around his leg, that is). Somehow, he knew what to do, even if it would end in bloodbath. A deep rumble (he wasn't sure what to call it, but it still shocked him when he did it without intention) erupted from his throat, guttural if nothing. Logan lunged at the reptile, sharpened teeth ripping its side open, leaving an tightened death drip from such into dead weight. Logan snapped again, feeling bones snap in his very jaws. The snake hissed in searing pain, before dropping away from him, cut in half and sprawled on the ground like road kill. Logan spit, gagging as the gore from his mouth gathered onto the ground.
He walked away, almost terrified of himself, and towards the shore. He wanted to pretend that it didn't just happen- that he hadn't just left a cold- blooded killer dead on the forest floor. He gagged at the thought again, barely bothering to note the clothes a few feet away from him as he draped his own off so he was left in his unders, diving into the closest wave, an underwater sigh of relief calming him down, as well as cleaning the blood from his face. Logan grimaced though, when he felt his body changing immediately, the same burning feeling coming over him as the night before. The male cursed to himself as he heard his own bones crack to leave room for a new shape, and what felt like spears emerging from his spine- something he was sure to leave a mark.
He was ignorant to the fact that there was another nearby to him, even as he cursed into the ocean, desperately trying to swim towards the surface instead of sinking. Actions failed, the excruciating pain seemed to fade when Logan hit the bottom, and took the chance to look around, calm down. He took a breath, which was odd, seeing he was under water. The Alpha grimaced, looking down at himself. He was oddly reptilian- it reminded him of the snake that had just been sacrificed for nothing- and it scared him. Logan panicked for a moment again, and realized what all of the needles were for now. Those bastards had changed him, and left him here to discover things- like the pain of his own transformation. He remembered hearing 'He'll adapt' in his head, remembering the chatter of the lab as he freely walked around, like he was one of them. They were teaching him to kill. But for once, that didn't bother him. Maybe it was just the fury he already felt.

It was the sound that had alerted the blond to the presence of another in the water, as well as the disruption of the water when he entered. That tormenting sound of bones cracking and rearranging themselves to fit the twisted image of what the scientists wanted. He turned toward the source of the sound but it was already moving, sinking if he could tell anything. Ashley wasn't sure whether or not to approach whoever it was that had entered the place he was trying to relax. He turned in the water again, making small splashes as he did so, trying to figure out in which direction the person had gone, before realizing he must have gone downward. Ashley's first instinct was to shift, but realized that would probably be considered a threat by Logan, deciding instead just to approach as a human. Although, he wouldn't hesitate a moment to shift if the other male went to attack him.
Taking a deep breath, Ashley began to swim downward, limbs moving fluidly, as if swimming was second nature to him. He almost jumped as he heard a metallic clink next to his ear, before relaxing and guessing that would be one of his necklaces, although mentally slapping himself for not taking them off with the rest of his clothing he didn't want to get wet. His eyes were closed, instead using his hearing to try and point himself in the direction of the other man.
" Hello?" His voice sounded almost rasped under the water, but it still carried well, even if it deprived him of precious oxygen. Shifting would have made it easier, but his animal form was, well, threatening under most circumstances, little own if he was facing an experiment that wasn't entirely used to the whole 'Giant reptiles, dragons, phoenix's and such' world that was USASI. Instead he just plowed on, stopping as he felt the sand at the bottom, quickly evening himself out. He was lucky, this part of the beach wasn't overly deep, so it should only take a few moments to return to the surface if need be. (Bleh post, sorry ><)

" Hello?"
Logan nearly cringed. His hearing was all-too vivid underwater, more so than the air. An automatic growl rolled out of his mouth- he couldn't help it. It took a few moments for him to register that it was a human voice that was speaking, and as soon as that happened the guttural snarl clipped off. He looked at the figure with curiosity, trying to figure what to make of the male. His eyes were closed- something that he wouldn't have expected. Was he an experiment? An 'Alpha' like him, perhaps? Smelling the water wasn't exactly normal for him, but the strong scent of the lab that rolled off Logan himself was present near the other male's form. He didn't know that the other was blind, even as he tried to motion questions (yes, he was still aware that the other's eyes were closed, but it was worth a try).
"Who are you?" Of all the things he could have asked this stranger, the sarcastic overtone of those three words came out instead. Hell, the nineteen year was still shocked that he could still talk, instead of figuring how rude his comment was. He shook his head, cursing himself. The stranger was only trying to help, and he was already pushing the male away. "I mean... What the hell happened to me?" He grimaced, desperately wanting to be back at 'home' right about now. It was better than what had happened to him so far.

The snarl actually caught Ashley off guard, contemplating swimming back a bit only for it cut off. If Logan thought his hearing was bad underwater, he should try training himself to try to listen to everything and anything around him at all times. He was kicking his legs and arms to keep himself where he had decided to stop, not wanting to put himself on the bottom of the beach, not sure whether he would be safe from, well, whatever the male was, unable to deduce any detail at the moment.
" Who are you?"
The question surprised him, or it was more the tone it had been said in, sarcastic and, well, rather putting him off trying to help the man, or at least he presumed it was man going by the voice. That was when he felt the current produced by the males head shaking, his mouth half open ready to speak when he was cut off by the second question. Well, that soft of sealed the deal, he was a first time injectee, but that didn't exactly seem to fit what had been happening recently. Why were they bringing more people to the island? He shook off the question, instead opening his mouth to try and speak again, only to start coughing. Well, shit. His body reacted on instinct, inhaling water a fairly good sign being able to breathe underwater would help, his body instantly beginning to change, ignoring the cracking sound as his bones rearranged, the feeling of scales replacing his skin and the overall painful sensation of having a tail, well, rip itself out of your spine.
He exhaled slowly once the change had occurred, shaking his head to rid himself of those fear inducing sound he normally had locked in his mind after the change. His blue eyes opened, but showed no recollection of anything around him, raising a claw before sinking to the bottom of the water, crouching slightly. ( Basically how he looks in the image xD)
" Well, I'm gonna go ahead and guess that you've gone through something similar to me. A guinea pig in those scientist f***ing tests. I'm also gonna assume that your not acquainted to with the whole 'Alphas and experiments thing'. Alpha's are people that are normally forced to work for the scientists, normally to protect someone close to them, or blackmail. That, or there sadistic guys and gals. Meanwhile, the experiments are the ones that rebel against them ," Ashley said, his voice calmer and less worried now. He soon continued " You've been given some form of animal DNA, or several in some cases. Other people are given some form of blended DNA's, to create something like myself, an animal not actually in nature ." Ashley wasn't sure what else to say, leaving it open for Logan to ask questions, remaining crouched and relaxing slightly. He doubted the male would attack him, but if he did he'd focus on dodging instead of attacking.

If they wanna get to ya They'll have to get through me first - Connor Russel
Connor's gaze was on the water running in front of him, but his gaze seemed almost distant, probably lost in thought. His arms were crossed in front of his chest as he let out a silent sigh, blinking wearily and turning away from the water. There were dark circles under his eyes, as well as several thin scars running across his cheek from when he had saved that kid only to scratched across the face by that Alpha. They'd fade with time if he was lucky, but he found himself subconsciously running his hand across the scar across his throat where that bitch Dakota had nearly ripped his throat out. He quickly shock his head and removed his gloved hand from it again, stuffing it deep into his jacket pocket. He didn't want to remember that, it would just make him think over all that had happened when he was in LA, all of the heartache inducing memories he'd rather bury along with his childhood.
Sighing, the phoenix injected pushed himself to his feet and began to walk along the waters edge, eyes focused intently on the floor, ignoring the feeling of tears beginning to form as his mind wandered back to the thoughts of LA and specifically his sister. He growled to himself and quickly wiped away the faint traces of liquid in the corner of his eyes. He wasn't gonna cry. He was here to find a way to take that place down and get back whoever did that to Grace. Sighing, he reached the edge of the small river, noticing he was now on a beach, carefully sitting down on the beach and just watching the waves crashing on the sand in front of him. He felt annoyed, with himself and this place he was stuck in. He hated not being able to fly free, so many of the Alphas seemed to be able to fly he didn't want to come across any when he was, for lack of a better word, reminiscing. Giving a gentle sigh he moved his head to his hands and fought back the urge to scream, curse and cry. His hands unconsciously tightened into his hair, before letting out an irritated growl and smoothing it down again.

It was Wednesday. The one horrible day of the week that taunted the transition between the most miserable day of Tuesday into Thursday. Maybe that's why she hated the only two days of the week that began with a 'T'. They were just a tease. As the sun was settled in it's mid-day position across the sky, the girl walked through the sun-lit woods, moving aside leaves and foliage to form a small path with her currently bare feet. Careful to avoid any shards of glass or other hazardous material, she glanced at the ground occasionally. With her hair placed gently (as always), she actually felt confident about today. However, her normal more formal attire was back in the lab dormitory. Today Melanie Brookes could be found wearing a set of casual, baggy-ish dark green sweatpants and an average cut gray shirt, mixed in with darker grays and whites as gray fabric usually does.
Her over-sensitive nostrils soon picked up the smell of others- however, the scent was old, faded. The experiment camp sure had fallen a ton since she had last come across it. Tents had holes in them, raided by the creatures of the woods. Clothing hung, worn out, on makeshift clothes lines and racks. She frowned, looking towards the beach that wasn't too far away. Only one seemed to remain, a lone male that sullenly placed himself on the sand. She knew she smelled like lab. She knew he would probably lash out. But what would happen, would happen. Her latest experience with mind control had taught her to be less resistant the to scientists, but that wouldn't stop her from not being a complete bitch to the other experiments- after all, everybody had feelings.
She felt the tension and sorrow in the air as she observed the male from afar- Melanie knew better than to sneak up when an experiment's back was turned. Especially one that didn't seem to be completely in his right mind. But, seeing as she was only a yard or two away, her mind wasn't exactly in place either. Most of the experiments, practically all of them, hated the Alpha experiments with a fiery and burning passion, and would do anything to rip their throats out. She knew she should have turned back, but it was a little late for being silent when the dried out twig snapped beneath the weight of her toes, sending its sound into the air.
Ooc; Classic surprise failure. Merp, I just felt like posting here >>

Connor quickly glanced upward as a strong waft of the lab struck him, but he guessed he was closer than he had expected, instead returning to his previous position of resting his head in his hands. His hands threaded through the almost fiery locks, the white highlight sticking out like a sore thumb. He was just being paranoid, not that he didn't sort of have a right to after what happened to him in the past. He traced a hand down his arm, feeling the scars the arched along it, a slight sigh escaping his lips, until the sound reached his ears. The snap of a twig.
It was instinct to react, pressing himself up from his seat upon the sand and turning, a low growl resonating from his throat to scare off any would be hunters, or to warn them at the least. The sound wasn't natural for a human to make, much closer to the rolling roar of a tiger than a human made roar. That was when his eyes landed upon the figure of Melanie, and recognized her from a lab folder he happened to find on one of his raids. A good for nothing alpha, the roar increasing in it's volume as he was half tempted to lunge without giving her a chance.
" I'd suggest you turn around and go back to that shit hole, or I'll send you crawling back ," Connor spat, eyes narrowed at the woman. It was blunt at to the point, the way he tended to speak to the alphas. Well, spat at them. She was lucky he hadn't just lunged forward, instead making sure she realized he wasn't kidding as a pair of phoenix like wings extended from his back, resisting the urge to fire them up. Connor's eyes seemed to flicker in the light, flecks of green standing out against the cool blue. He was giving her a chance to escape, to get away from him. If she took it, he wouldn't give chase, but if she didn't, he wasn't going to hold back.

Alexander J. Miles
Alex wasn't sure how long he'd been on this island, how long he had been trapped away from civilization. His heavy paws made a soft crunching noise as he paced the thinned out woodland nearer the warmth of the beach. He'd taken to pacing the sands, hoping for some form of company. He was desperate for it. Lions were pride animals, well, normally pride animals, and Alex had never enjoyed being alone. Sure, he had met several people over his time on this place, but they normally ended up going separate ways.
He'd started to think more and more about how this place was so lonely, how even the animals in this place seemed to just have an instant distaste to humans. That's why he had spent so much time in his lion form, to try and set up some form of companionship among the animals. Not that he'd actually managed to succeed, he was just left to drift alone.
